NARR8'S WELCOMES INDIE ARTISTS AND FANS TO DIGITAL PLATFORM
The possibilities are endless with NARR8, the free-to-download, free-to-use app for iPad, Android, and Amazon. We learned today that the company has launched a new user-generated content (UGC) editing tool, StoryBuilder, which will let fans and independent artists alike make their own content series, either by using pre-generated content from NARR8, or by adding their own pictures, animations, and audio clips to create original stories for NARR8's 800,000+ user audience.
"It has always been important to NARR8 to be able to assist talented artists and creators, most importantly our readers. By implementing ‘StoryBuilder,' we are allowing our creative fans that wish to share their stories with our 800,000+ users all over the world. We're excited to continue evolving the NARR8 product and look forward to what this great addition will bring," said Founder Alexandr Vashchenko.
NARR8's news comes at a time when eBook sales have never been higher, with book publishers reporting that nearly 23% of their revenue comes from eBooks, rather than printed books, through last year, up 17% from the previous year. In the US alone, self-published eBooks have seen growth of 287% since 2006, with more than 235,000 self-published titles released last year, and studies show that eBooks are growing in popularity while print reading is declining in the face of growth in eBook readers such as the Amazon Kindle, which increased 33% last year.
Since launching about six months ago, NARR8 has made huge strides in the mobile market, having debuted on the iPad, then launched later for Android, and now, Amazon, and appearing in more than a dozen countries in four different languages (English, Russian, Korean, and Spanish). Now, with StoryBuilder, NARR8's appeal will broaden even further, beyond the app's original motion comics, interactive sci-fi and horror novels, and nonfiction world history and popular science articles, to reach passionate fans that wish to create their own fan fiction, and to ambitious artists who seek to create their very own content series on the app.
Not only can users have their story published, but they can also have the opportunity to make money from their work! Although all users' content will be free of charge, once a user's episode reaches 1,000 downloads, that user will be authorized to sell the content for NARRs, the virtual currency used within the app. Users normally earn NARRs for free by regularly using the app, and can spend them to unlock new episodes and functionality more quickly. A future revenue-sharing system will let the authors of popular series earn additional funds.
